John Wilds, trumpet John Wilds, trumpet, is a native of Seattle, Washington. He is principal trumpet with the San Diego Opera Orchestra, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and second trumpet with the San Diego Symphony. He has performed with the San Francisco Symphony, Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and was principal trumpet in the New Mexico Symphony and the Mississippi Symphony. Mr. Wilds received his earliest musical training from his father on the highland bagpipes. He received further training at the Indiana University School of Music. John is associated as a trumpet instructor with San Diego State University, Point Loma Nazarene University, the University of San Diego, and Rancho Bernardo High School.
Andrew Elstob, trumpet, is a native of Monterey, California. He has performed broadway shows for the Old Globe, Lyceum and Civic Theaters. Classically, Andrew has performed with Pavarotti, Classics for Kids, the Orchestra de Baja California, San Diego Chamber Orchestra and San Diego Symphony. His jazz experience is extensive, currently performing with the Brad Steinwehe Jazz Orchestra. He received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from San Diego State University.
Barry Toombs, horn and Executive Director Barry Toombs, horn and Executive Director, is a native of Galveston, Texas. He is a member with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and performs with the Starlight Musical Theatre, San Diego Symphony, and Orquesta de Baja California. Mr. Toombs performed with the Navy Bands of Great Lakes, Illinois and San Diego. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Barry is associated as a horn instructor with San Diego State University.
Dave Pollock, trombone Dave Pollock, trombone, is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Music degree from Duquesne University. David has toured North America with the Emmy and Tony award winning Broadway show Blast! And was a cast member of Cyberjam in London's West End. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Navy, attended the Armed Forces school of Music and was a member of Navy Band Southwest in San Diego where he was honorably discharged. David has performed with Seaside Brass, the Nancy Wilson Big Band and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Brent Dutton, tuba and Artistic Director Brent Dutton, tuba and Artistic Director, is a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Mr. Dutton has an amalgam of careers as composer, performer, teacher, arranger, and conductor. He is currently Professor of Music at San Diego State University where he is Chair of Composition and Brass Studies and Coordinator of Performance Studies. Mr. Dutton has performed throughout the world as soloist and ensemble musician. The Cleveland Orchestra, L'Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, Grand Ballet Canadian, Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, The San Diego Brass Consort and the San Diego Symphony are some of the ensembles that he has made music with. He received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory. Brent has recorded for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, Deutsche Grammophon, Crystal Records, Kanda Records, Eroica Records, Naxos, Koch International and PBS.
